Outside

lake lift

Swimming, fishing and boating are just feet from the door.  The aluminum dock stretches 48 feet into the lake. Take out the canoe or kayak or moor your own boat or rental.  The water is warm in the summer and shallow by the dock- be careful getting in!  Swim to the float for more time in the sun.  If you fish, note that Maine requires a fishing license for anyone 16 and older.  Get your license here.

Watch the sunrise from the dock or wrap around deck that faces the lake.  Sit by the outdoor fire pit when the sun goes down.  And enjoy the best seat of all- the hammock by the lake.

Power boats can be launched for free at the public boat launch in either Winthrop or Readfield and docked at the house.  We have plenty of room for your boat trailer at the Dome.

Dogs

We welcome well- behaved dogs with a limit of 2 per rental.  Check out our Dogs of the Dome page for previous guests who range from 8lbs to 80lbs.

If you do bring your four-legged friend, we ask for a reference- vet, dog walker doggie daycare, or a neighbor.  We also require an additional fee of $100 per dog, per week.

Please be mindful that many of the camps on the point have dogs.  We really like our neighbors and so far they like us.  To keep it that way, please be sure your dog is friendly with others, under your control all times, and that you pick up after him.

Dog bowls are provided.  Please bring a towel for your dog- our linens and our furniture are for people only.

Eating

The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and has a dishwasher and microwave.  The dining room table is set for 6 with a leaf and two additional chairs available to seat 8.  There is a 10' picnic table for outdoor dining.  The deck has a gas grill with a pizza stone.  And you can roast marshmallows over the outdoor fire pit.

Or just pick up lobsters from Hannaford’s - they’ll steam them for you at no charge- and bring them back to the picnic table for lake-side, gourmet dining at fast-food prices!

Entertainment

The Dome has wi-fi.  We do not have a tv (on purpose). You are welcome to use the canoe and kayak and we have 2 adult life jackets, 1 small child and 1 kid life jacket.  The dock provides access to swimming, fishing and boating- all AT YOUR OWN RISK.  There is foosball in the loft and darts by the kitchen.  Board games and cards are in the coffee table chest.  For nearby attractions, see our page on regional activities.
